Amazon Web Services Ending Support For These 10 Services
Here are ten services that Amazon Web Services will end support for in 2026.
1. Amazon Pinpoint
Amazon Pinpoint, a service used for customer engagement through channels like SMS, email, and voice messaging, will end support on October 30, 2026. As of May 20, 2025, the service will no longer accept new customers. Pinpoint has been popular for its messaging capabilities and customer journey tracking, providing essential analytics for businesses to refine their marketing strategies. After the service is discontinued, users will lose access to the Pinpoint console and its resources, including segments, campaigns, and analytics tools. Amazon Web Services is recommending customers transition to alternatives like Amazon Simple Notification Service (SNS) or third-party marketing automation tools.
2. Amazon Timestream for LiveAnalytics
Amazon Timestream for LiveAnalytics, a service used for real-time analytics on time-series data, will no longer be available to new customers starting June 20, 2025. However, existing customers can continue using the service without interruption until further notice. Amazon Web Services suggests users explore Amazon Timestream for InfluxDB as a comparable alternative, as it offers similar functionality for storing and analyzing time-series data at scale.
3. AWS Database Migration Service Fleet Advisor
Amazon Web Services will shut down its Database Migration Service (DMS) Fleet Advisor by May 20, 2026. As of May 20, 2025, the service will no longer accept new customers. DMS Fleet Advisor has helped businesses with database migration planning, offering insights and recommendations for moving database and analytics workloads to the cloud. AWS recommends migrating to AWS Migration Evaluator, which provides similar services for database migration assessments. Fleet Advisor users will need to switch to this new tool for continued support.
4. Amazon Web Services IQ
Launched in 2019, AWS IQ connects customers with AWS-certified freelancers and consulting firms. Unfortunately, AWS IQ will be retired on May 28, 2026. As of May 20, 2025, AWS will no longer accept new expert registrations on the platform. AWS suggests customers transition to the AWS Marketplace Professional Services for accessing similar consulting services. This marketplace allows users to find professionals and negotiate custom prices for services, currently known as “Proposals” in AWS IQ.
5. Amazon Web Services IoT Analytics
Support for AWS IoT Analytics will end on December 15, 2025, with the service already ceasing to accept new customers. AWS IoT Analytics has been an essential tool for processing and analyzing IoT device data. After the service’s shutdown, users will lose access to its console and related resources. AWS is recommending that users migrate to alternatives such as Amazon Kinesis Data Streams, AWS Glue, or Amazon QuickSight for ongoing analytics and data processing needs.
6. Amazon Web Services IoT Events
On May 20, 2026, AWS will discontinue support for Amazon Web Services IoT Events, a service designed for monitoring IoT devices for failures or operational changes. Starting May 20, 2025, new customers will no longer be accepted. The service has been widely used for triggering actions when specific events occur in IoT systems. AWS suggests users implement alternative solutions such as Amazon CloudWatch for monitoring and debugging IoT devices, alongside other services like AWS IoT Greengrass for edge computing.
7. Amazon Web Services SimSpace Weaver
AWS SimSpace Weaver, a service aimed at running large-scale spatial simulations in the cloud, will no longer accept new customers beginning May 20, 2025. Support for SimSpace Weaver will end on May 20, 2026. Customers will lose access to the SimSpace Weaver console and resources at that time. AWS recommends transitioning to AWS Batch for containerized simulation workloads, which can provide a similar experience for running complex simulations at scale.
8. Amazon Web Services Panorama
On May 31, 2026, AWS Panorama, a tool for adding computer vision capabilities to on-premises camera networks, will be discontinued. As of May 20, 2025, the service will no longer accept new customers. AWS suggests users explore alternative solutions for AI-based computer vision, including tools like Amazon SageMaker for machine learning, AWS Systems Manager, and IoT Greengrass for managing AI applications at the edge.
9. Amazon Connect Voice ID
Amazon Connect Voice ID, a service for voice biometric authentication, will end support on May 20, 2026. As of May 20, 2025, the service will no longer accept new customers. AWS advises users to migrate to Pindrop, an anti-fraud and authentication platform, for continued voice authentication capabilities. For those seeking a more DIY solution, AWS suggests leveraging its End User Messaging SMS service for secure authentication via SMS.
10. Amazon Inspector Classic
Finally, Amazon Inspector Classic, an older version of AWS’s security assessment tool, will be phased out by May 20, 2026. The service will no longer accept new customers starting May 20, 2025. AWS has introduced a redesigned and rearchitected version of Amazon Inspector, which is now globally available and offers improved functionality and security capabilities. Users of the classic version are encouraged to migrate to the new Amazon Inspector.
What This Means for Amazon Web Services Customers?
This wave of service discontinuations reflects AWS’s ongoing efforts to refine its cloud offerings, focusing on providing more scalable, modern solutions that better meet customer needs. However, the closure of these services also presents a significant challenge for businesses that rely on them for mission-critical operations.
For many customers, this will require a migration to other AWS offerings or third-party solutions, some of which may require additional training, resources, or modifications to their existing workflows. AWS has provided ample time for customers to transition, but businesses must take proactive steps to ensure a smooth migration before the shutdown dates.
AWS’s recommendation of alternative services shows their intent to guide customers toward solutions that can meet or exceed the functionality of the discontinued services. These alternatives, such as AWS Kinesis, Amazon SageMaker, and AWS Batch, provide robust options for data processing, IoT analytics, simulation, and machine learning, ensuring that customers have powerful tools to continue their cloud journey.
As Amazon Web Services continues to evolve its service portfolio, businesses using these soon-to-be-shuttered services must stay informed and plan their migrations carefully to avoid disruptions and ensure long-term success in the cloud.
